Elsie moved to Cottingley, a small
village in England, to stay with her aunt, uncle and cousin Frances. She missed
her home in Africa because it was very cold in England. Elsie and Frances spent
every day by the stream in the woods watching the fairies. They asked Uncle
Arthur to lend them his camera to take photos of the fairies. The girls took
the photos which were a surprise for Uncle Arthur.
It happed that a famous author Sir
Arthur Conan Doyle saw their pictures and wrote an article about Frances and
Elsie. The girls became famous but Frances didn’t like it. She asked Elsie to
say everybody that it was all a big joke. Elsie didn’t like the idea because
her mother thought it was wrong to tell lies.
What do you think about this song?
What are you thinking about, Sir? –
I am thinking about what to have for dinner this evening.
